A police or criminal-history check is a screening document obtained through an authorised process. It may be legally required, contractually required or appropriate for certain roles, depending on the country and duties. It is not universally required for every job or task and should not be collected without a legitimate reason. An older check may not satisfy a particular employer's currency or eligibility requirements.
